TAAI’s 20th Regional Unit inaugurates in Lucknow

The 20th Regional Unit (Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand) of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) was inaugurated by Mr. Amrit Abhijat, Secretary & Director General (Tourism), Govt. of Uttar Pradesh alongwith TAAI Acting President Mr Sunil Kumar.
Hon Secretary General Mr Harmandeep Singh Anand, M C Member and Chairman TAAI Membership Development Council Mr Kirti Vyas alongwith Chairman of TAAI Northern Region Mr Rajan Sehgal, Hon. Secretary Mr Neeraj Malhotra and Hon Treasurer – Mr Gaurav Dogra graced the occasion.
Mr. Sunil Kumar spoke about TAAI’s strength by its number of Regions, Chapters and emphasized the role of a TAAI agent. He mentioned about the State Tourism Ministers’ conference held recently in Delhi where both Mr Arun Jaitely, Union Minister for Finance and Mr Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Tourism had emphasized the need of reliable tourism.
The Director General Tourism spoke about the policies of the government and how UP is marching towards a big change in its Tourism policies. He said that within a year these changes would be noticeably visible. He assured TAAI of all cooperation in its ventures and invited TAAI to hold more of its meetings and seminars in UP.
The Chapter’s new team of office bearers: Mr. Sunil B Satyawakta as Chairman, Mr. Kirti Kumar Srivastava as Hon Secretary and Mr. Syed Maqbool Ahmed as Hon Treasurer were then appointed. Mr. Rajan Sehgal assured Mr. Amrit Abhijat of holding its Northern Region meeting in Lucknow.
Mr Satyawakta said as a Chapter Chairman he plans to make his chapter a bridge between his members and the tourism authority. He also assured the DG that with the big network of 2500 agents of TAAI members, festivals like Lucknow Mahotsav, Taj Mahotsav and Safai Mahotsav would be made a big success by bringing in tourists from all parts of India and overseas.
The Chapter has 65 members in its ambit in the Active, Associate and Allied categories.
The Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Chapter will have members from Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital, Roorkee, Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Varanasi & other cities where TAAI members are present and would exclude members in Noida and Ghaziabad, who will continue to be a part of TAAI Northern Region . The 3 office bearers will look after the operations of the Unit as a whole and will cater to its myriad activities for the benefit of its members.
The Chapter is all set to increase its membership soon and will play an integral part in enhancing tourism to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand supported by the concerned tourism departments.
